Molly spent five years at Mars, Inc., leading the marketing and new product efforts for the Snickers and Milky Way businesses. After a year of product innovation work with S.C. In February 2010, “Neapolitan” originated as a retail gift concept under the moniker Neapolitan Sweet Treats for the Home & Body. This concept lived online and was fully expressed within a 10′ x 20′ retail space in the Antique Market in Le Pavilion shopping plaza. All of the merchandise, if not sweet to the senses, imbued colors of baby pink, chocolate brown and vanilla, hence the name Neapolitan. On Saturdays, Molly would give away her specialty cupcakes as an incentive to drive incremental purchases. With considerable feedback and most customers thinking her cupcakes were “artificial” and “too pretty to eat,” she added cupcakes to her business model and brought the two concepts together to create the Neapolitan Cupcake & Gift Shoppe; which was incidentally, the first cupcake bakery in Augusta, Ga.
Neapolitan Cupcake & Gift Shoppe opened its doors in November 2011, kiddy-corner to the Antique Market. Neapolitan continues to specialize in gourmet cupcakes, however Molly and her team have expanded the product portfolio to include petite cakes (4″ to 10″), cake pops, English toffee, macarons, cookies and other tasty pastries. Neapolitan also hosts birthday parties and frequently rents its ever so trendy, pink and fun space for bridal showers, baby showers and other sweet occasions.
